Anutins Second Cabinet Deal Closed Without Kalatham, Democrat, or Sai Ruam Phalang Parties Bhumjaithai Secures 14 Ministries, Pheu Thai 5 Ministers

The "Bhumjaithai government" is now confirmed to exclude Kalatham and Democrat partiesand Sai Ruam Phalang. Bhumjaithai holds 14 ministries with 26 positions, including Speaker and First Deputy Speaker of the House. Meanwhile, Pheu Thai secures 5 ministers, 1 deputy prime minister, 3 deputy ministers, and the Second Deputy Speaker. Palang Pracharath holds 1 seat.


On 8 March 2026, during the Bhumjaithai parliamentary seminar with 192 MPs, the party's executive committee presented a list of suitable ministerial candidates to Anutin Charnvirakul, party leader. The list included more names than available ministerial seats to allow the leader to select and submit to the Secretariat of the Cabinet for verification by nine agencies.


Currently, Bhumjaithai is expected to fill 26 ministerial positions, subject to further consideration, overseeing 14 ministries: Interior, Defense, Transport, Natural Resources and Environment, Digital Economy and Society, Tourism and Sports, Industry, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Commerce, Energy, Justice, Culture, and Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office.


Anutin's quota includes five positions: himself as Minister of Interior; Sihasak Puangketkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Akeniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; Supachai Sutthumpan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce; and Bowornsak Uwanno, Deputy Prime Minister.


Meanwhile, the "Big House" faction's quotaincludesnames such as Songsak Thongsri, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Chaichon Chidchob, Surasak Phanjaroenworakul, Sabida Thaiset, Pradorn Prisana-nantakul, Suchart Chomklin, Eknat Phrompan, Warawut Silpa-archa, Supamas Isarapakdi, Naphin Sriprapang, and Phattana Phromphat.


Additionally, the loyal faction who have consistently worked for BhumjaithaiincludesJeset Thaiset, MP for Uthai Thani; Siripong Angkasunkiet, MP for Sisaket; Nan Boonthida Somchai, MP for Ubon Ratchathani; Worasit Liangprasith, MP for Satun; Suksamruay Wantaneeyakul, MP for Amnat Charoen; and Phattapong Phatrapasit, MP for Phichit.


The Speaker position is confirmed to be held by Sopan Sarum,while the First Deputy Speakeris allocated to Bhumjaithai, with southern MPs assigned to select the candidate.


Regarding coalition party quotas, Pheu Thai will have 8 members in 9 positions. Pheu Thai submitted more candidates than allotted ministerial seats, and Bhumjaithai authorized them to select suitable candidates withoutstipulating criteriasuch as being new or veteran members, but selections mustcomply withthe Constitutional Court's rulings.


These include a deputy prime minister also serving as Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, three deputy ministers, and the Second Deputy Speaker position remains undecided.


Palang Pracharath will secure one ministerial seat held by Trinuch Thianthong, whilesmall parties with 1-2 seatswill not receive ministerial positions, as Bhumjaithai does not seek to consolidate votes or form side coalitions. The Defense Ministry will be decided last, awaiting final developments.


The lineupof Anutin's second cabinetwas finalized immediately after his election as prime minister. This cabinet formation aligns with party strategy to appoint suitable personnel to ministries ensuring coordinated operations reporting directly to the prime minister, avoiding the fragmented governance seen in past administrations.


It is now clear that the government led by Bhumjaithai commands 291 seats, comprising Bhumjaithai, Pheu Thai,Palang Pracharath, Prachachart,and small parties, excluding Kalatham, Democrat, and Sai Ruam Phalang parties.
