“Tee Phattharaphong” teams up with Northern MPs from Lamphun and Chiang Mai of the People's Party to push forward the “Orange Against Wildfires” operation season 2, stressing that although parliament has not opened yet, the PM2.5 toxic dust problem is causing public distress.
On 8 March 2026, Northern MPs of the People's Party, led by Phattharaphong Leelaphat as the Orange Against Fire team manager, together with MPs from Chiang Mai—Nattaphon Towijakchaiyagul, Puthita Chayanan, and Witwisit Pansuanpluk—and MPs from Lamphun, collaborated to coordinate the Orange Against Wildfires team in the districts of Doi Saket, Mae On, San Sai, San Pa Tong, Hang Dong, Mae Wang in Chiang Mai, and Mueang and Mae Tha districts in Lamphun.
Mr. Phattharaphong Leelaphat said the project “Orange Against Wildfires” has been driven by Northern MPs of the People's Party in cooperation with all sectors since the “Progressive Against Wildfires” and “Orange Against Fire” season 1, and continues to operate into “Orange Against Wildfires” season 2 this year. The Orange Against Fire team began operations this year on 26 February and focuses on wildfire prevention by patrolling with heat-detecting drones.
Wildfire extinguishing operations start by accessing deep forest areas using electric off-road vehicles, water jets, and blowers to enable the fastest and most precise fire suppression. Additionally, firebreaks are created. Every operation coordinates closely with local officials to ensure smooth and effective work.
From 26 February to now (8 March 2026), the Orange Against Fire team has completed 26 wildfire extinguishing missions covering 40 kilometers, created 13 kilometers of firebreaks, and flown drones for over 14 hours, covering 326 kilometers across 68 flights.
Mr. Phattharaphong said the mission aims to reduce PM2.5 toxic dust from wildfires as much as possible, assist officials facing difficult tasks with limited budgets, and understand the various causes of wildfires, including fires started for hunting or gathering forest products, fires spreading from agricultural areas, fires crossing firebreaks, and fires deliberately set by malicious actors.
The People's Party adheres to the principle that “good legislative work comes from action” to effectively drive legislation drafting, budgeting, and oversight through parliamentary mechanisms, ensuring maximum benefit to the public.
Mr. Phattharaphong said that after years of intensive fieldwork, they are confident wildfires can be solved if the government is committed. The People's Party will fully advance through parliamentary channels for clean air covering all sources, both from burning and non-burning origins, and calls on the new government to promptly reconsider the Clean Air Act draft immediately after forming the cabinet.
