Government Completes Compensation Payments to All Households in 7 Thai-Cambodian Border Provinces, Totaling Over 3.3 Billion Baht

The government announced that compensation payments have been completed for all 695,945 households in the seven Thai-Cambodian border provinces, totaling over 3.3 billion baht. Sisaket and Surin provinces had the highest amounts transferred.

On 9 March 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that following Cabinet resolutions on 26 August 2025 and 23 December 2025, approval was given to compensate victims affected by actions of foreign armed forces near the Thai-Cambodian border between July and December 2025. These events caused widespread impact, damaging property, residences, agricultural land, and public utilities.

Ms. Airin explained that the government assigned the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation as the agency responsible for transferring compensation payments to affected households through the Government Savings Bank. The coverage included seven border provinces: Chanthaburi, Trat, Sa Kaeo, Ubon Ratchathani, Buriram, Surin, and Sisaket. Transfers have been successfully completed for all 695,945 households, totaling over 3.3 billion baht. This includes 307,188 households compensated with 1,375,518,000 baht following the 26 August 2025 Cabinet resolution (data as of 26 Dec 2025, 17:30 GMT+7), and 388,757 households compensated with 1,938,376,000 baht under the 23 December 2025 resolution (data as of 20 Feb 2026, 17:30 GMT+7). Sisaket and Surin provinces had the highest number of households compensated and the largest total amounts transferred.

The government prioritizes the safety of lives and property and is fully committed to supporting and compensating those affected by the actions of foreign armed forces near the Thai-Cambodian border. To alleviate hardships, the government has ordered security agencies to closely monitor the situation and coordinate efforts comprehensively to ensure public safety and strictly protect Thailand’s sovereignty.
