Second Anutin Cabinet Lineup: Eknat to Lead Energy, Warawut to Head Industry, Mallika as Deputy Speaker

Second Anutin Cabinet Lineup New blood from the Blue faction has been assigned ministries: Eknat to Energy, Warawut to Industry, Suchart to Natural Resources. The "Born Son" faction emerges prominently, stepping into fresh ministerial roles, while Prasert's name raises questions amid NACC investigations. Additionally, there is an explanation of why Kla Tham and Democrat parties are excluded from coalition talks.

On 9 March 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted the final phase of forming the second Anutin cabinet ahead of the parliamentary opening ceremony on 14 March. Subsequently, the parliamentary speaker will be elected on 15 March, followed by the prime minister vote between 18-19 March, before cabinet formation.

Recent reports from the Bhumjaithai Party, following a party seminar in Buriram province, indicate that the cabinet lineup is becoming clearer, resolving previously ambiguous allocations, especially involving the new Blue blood faction like Mr. Suchart Chomklin.Chonburi factionMr. Warawut Silpa-archaSuphanburi factionand Mr. Eknat PrompanKamnan Uncle factionAccording to reports, Mr. Suchart is set to be Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Eknat Minister of Energy, and Mr. Warawut Minister of Industry.

Meanwhile, the proportions of the "Luk Thep" gang which has now been renamed the "Born Son" gang according to senior party figures, they are expected to be strategically placed in key ministries. For example, Mr. Jeset Thaiset, MP for Uthai Thani, and Mr. Worasit Liangprasit, MP for Satun, will be deputy ministers in the Interior Ministry. Mr. Siripong Angsakulkiat, MP for Sisaket, and Mr. Phattharaphong Phattharapisit, MP for Phichit, are deputy ministers in Transport. Ms. Nan Boonthida Somchai, MP for Ubon Ratchathani, will be deputy minister in the Digital Economy and Society Ministry. Ms. Suksomruay Wantaneeyakul, MP for Amnat Charoen, and Mr. Phonpi Suwanchawi, MP for Nakhon Ratchasima, are awaiting appropriate assignments.

In legislative roles, Mr. Sophon Sarum, multiple-term MP for Buriram, will be Speaker of the House of Representatives. The first Deputy Speaker will be Ms. Mallika Jirapanwanich, MP for Lopburi and Deputy Minister of Transport. Her multiple terms, conciliatory nature, cooperative work style, familiarity with parliamentary procedures, and rapport with MPs across parties are expected to ensure smooth parliamentary operations.

Regarding ministerial proportions from the Pheu Thai Party, reports indicate that Mr. Prasert Chandavongthong faces significant risk due to the iris scan case under NACC investigation, scrutinized by Bhumjaithai through the Digital Economy and Society and Justice Ministries. There is also a drought relief budget case worth 51 billion baht. Mr. Anutin has confirmed ministerial qualifications will follow the latest Constitutional Court rulings.

However, reports say the Pheu Thai Party leader will submit the name of the second Deputy Speaker on 12 March at 13:30 GMT+7 to Bhumjaithai party leaders at their party headquarters.

Additionally, sources reveal that Bhumjaithai decided not to include the Kla Tham Party in the coalition due to allegations against some MPs and leaders involving gray-area businesses and upcoming NACC charges against several members and leaders.

As for the Democrat Party, senior leaders view it as lacking political unity and internal cohesion. Despite Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva's leadership restoring some prestige, the party holds only 21 seats and remains divided mainly between Abhisit's faction and that of Mr. Chuan Leekpai. Many often vote according to their own preferences rather than party consensus, making coalition management difficult, thus excluding them from the government.
