No decision has been made yet on sendingMonporn as Deputy Speaker of the House.
On 9 Mar 2026, Mr. Julaphan Amornwiwat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, spoke about the clarity of the party's ministerial quota allocation: five ministerial seats, including three ministers andone seat,as Deputy Speaker of the House, remains uncertain. However, as a coalition party, second in rank,it is expected that cabinet positions will be allocated appropriately. Which specific posts will be assigned will be discussed further. Regarding rumors that some Pheu Thai MPs are dissatisfied with the party's ministerial appointments, he said he checked with several MPs who confirmed there is no dissatisfaction or discomfort. Media reports citing anonymous sources cannot be verified. The process of assigning positions is the responsibility of the party's executive committee and is not done arbitrarily. They mustlisten to MPsand party members. Currently, the process has not advanced; they are awaiting the formal opening of parliament to elect the Speaker of the House, after which a meeting will be held to select the prime minister. Only then will discussions on distributing positions occur. Pheu Thai will internally deliberate who is suitable for each role based on qualifications, expertise, and experience. On 14 Mar, the party will convene to gather opinions and reach collective decisions, including on ministerial posts. Ultimately, the executive committee has the authority to decide according to party mechanisms.
When asked how the party will handle limited ministerial posts relative to the number of MPs so that disappointed MPs will not be upset, Mr. Julaphan said all decisions must be acceptable to all sides. Pheu Thai has no factions or groups. Any appointment must find suitable individuals who can advance policies and effectively address public issues. When asked about rumors of dissatisfaction among Pheu Thai MPs regarding both Mr. Prasert and Ms. Sutawan Wongsupakijkosol, list MPs representing Nakhon Ratchasima quota, possibly both becoming ministers causing discontent as the same province would have two ministers, two people.Mr. Julaphan replied there is no objection if one province hastwo ministers, but that does not necessarily mean bothtwo individualswill hold ministerial positions, as no final decision has been made. Bothtwo individualshave previously served as ministers with successful track records and no issues preventing them from holding further positions. When asked if appointing both would be acceptable to MPs, Mr. Julaphan said he believes it will not be a problem.
Regarding Mr. Prasert Chantraruangthong, the party secretary who may face issues serving as minister due to pending legal cases, Mr. Julaphan said fairness must be given. So far, no legal proceedings have been initiated against Mr. Prasert. The party still asserts his innocence and that there is no indication he lacks qualifications for a ministerial role. The party will conduct a thorough review and reconsider the matter. As for the Deputy Speaker of the House, Ms. Monporn Charoensri, an MP from Nakhon Phanom, no clear decision has been made. Further discussions will take place on 14 Mar, including meetings with the Bhumjaithai Party to propose a candidate. A decision must be made by the party executive committee. Currently, the party has not decided to nominate Ms. Monporn and still has several qualified and suitable personnel within the party.
