
The Prime Minister was on sick leave for the Cabinet meeting, with Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn presiding in his place. The meeting was expected to discuss energy-saving measures, while ministers began the practice of not wearing suits and ties. They also deliberated global oil price trends due to the conflict in the Middle East.
On 10 March 2026 at the Government House, the Cabinet meeting announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn was appointed to chair the session.This was a sudden development.This was because Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul reported sick leave from the meeting; however, if his condition improved, he would join the meeting later.
In total, five ministers reported absence from the meeting.
1. Captain Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
2. Mr. Akara Prompao, Minister of Social Development and Human Security.
3. Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office.
4. Mr. Chaiyachon Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (on sick leave).
5. Mr. Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health.
Meanwhile, Ms. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, attended the meeting via video conference using Zoom.
The meeting agenda included a report on the latest impacts of energy prices stemming from the Middle East conflict, global oil market trends, energy-saving measures, and a request for public cooperation. Additionally, ministers and their aides wore shirts without suits or ties in accordance with the new dress code measure.
Regarding agenda items for consideration, the Secretariat of the Cabinet prepared to propose a draft Royal Decree calling for a parliamentary session in 2026.
For informational items, the National Anti-Corruption Commission proposed measures to prevent and combat corruption involving the illicit trade of weapons that could be used in warfare, under the Weapons Control Act of 1987.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce presented an overview of the trade economic index for January 2026 and reported on Thailand's export situation for December and the entire year of 2025. The Road Safety Operations Center summarized efforts to prevent and reduce road accidents during the Songkran festival.
