Kla Tham Party Discusses Voting Direction for House Speaker on 14 Mar Attakorn Affirms Unity

Attakorn revealed that the Kla Tham Party is discussing its voting direction for the House Speaker this Saturday, confirming their unity. He expressed regret if the SPK land policy is not continued and emphasized the party's readiness to perform all roles.

At 09:53 on 10 March 2026 GMT+7. Mr. Attakorn Sirilattayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports and registrar of the Kla Tham Party, gave an interview at the Government House after it became clearer that Kla Tham would not be part of the government, saying, "There are discussions within the party. We are ready to perform in every role."

When asked, Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, advisory chairman of the Kla Tham Party, was asked how he encouraged party MPs. Attakorn said, Lt. Col. Thammanat said, "We will do our duty. In the last election, the people entrusted us with 58 seats. We will fulfill our roles as best as we can."

The reporter then asked if he felt disappointed, having hoped to continue the SPK land policy, which was a key reason for Kla Tham's electoral success. Attakorn stated that, having served as Minister and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives working alongside civil servants, he sees this policy as empowering people seeking rights to land for farming. Regarding whether he regrets it, he said he views it as a good policy that benefits the people. It would be regrettable if it is not continued. When pressed further, whether he would urge the government to carry it on since the beneficiaries are the people, Attakorn said, "We can't force them, but we hope it will continue."

Meanwhile, Attakorn also spoke about Kla Tham's stance on voting for the House Speaker and the prime ministerial vote. He was asked whether MPs would have a free vote or follow a party decision. He said the matter will be assessed and discussed again on Saturday, 14 March, before the parliamentary session opens, when MPs will meet for consultations. Regarding how they will vote, Lt. Col. Thammanat often says that no one in this party is above others. Everyone calls each other to exchange views, including veteran and first-term MPs, to find the best approach for future work.

However, when asked about reports suggesting they should vote for the House Speaker first even though Kla Tham is in opposition, Attakorn said the details would be considered by MPs but affirmed the vote will be unified. .
