The Cabinet meeting approved the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' proposal for Thailand to jointly endorse the outcome documents of the Global Fraud Summit, emphasizing a proactive role in combating cross-border fraud and corruption.
On 10 March 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertviwattana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that the Cabinet approved the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' proposal for Thailand to jointly endorse two draft outcome documents of the Global Fraud Summit and to declare Thailand's commitment to combating fraud. The summit is scheduled for 16-17 March 2026 in Vienna, Austria. The documents Thailand will endorse include:
1. The draft Call to Action on Combatting Fraud,
2. The draft Global Public-Private Partnership Framework against Fraud.
The summit also provides member countries the opportunity to declare commitments reflecting additional approaches to address fraud issues. Thailand's focus will be on three key areas: implementing measures to prevent and suppress money laundering; integrating data and utilizing digital technologies including artificial intelligence to track financial flows and detect fraud; and strengthening cooperation both internationally and between the public and private sectors to enhance prevention, enforcement, and victim assistance effectively.
Ms. Lalida further stated that the Global Fraud Summit is significant as a high-level platform promoting political will and international cooperation to tackle "fraud crimes," especially internet scams, which are now transnational threats impacting economic security, public trust, and global community safety.
The two draft documents emphasize enhancing cooperation in monitoring and information sharing, strengthening law enforcement and criminal justice efficiency, protecting the public, and building partnerships with the private sector and relevant stakeholders to ensure comprehensive anti-fraud efforts that keep pace with rapidly evolving criminal methods.
The Deputy Government Spokesperson added that participating in the summit is a vital opportunity for Thailand to take a leading role and clearly affirm its political commitment to advancing international cooperation against fraud, building on the progress from the global conference on partnerships against online fraud co-hosted by Thailand and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Bangkok in December 2025.
“The government places great importance on preventing and suppressing fraud crimes, especially online scams that broadly affect the public. Participating in the Global Fraud Summit will elevate Thailand’s role on the international stage and foster concrete cooperation to effectively address emerging forms of crime,” she said.
