Nattawut Saikua clarified he is not involved with any page that chases or harasses journalists. He called on supporters to respect the rights and freedoms of all parties and to communicate constructively, following the media association’s appeal for those named to restrain their fan bases and cease harassment campaigns.
On 10 March 2026, Nattawut Saikua, director of the Pheu Thai Family, posted on Facebook after the Thai Journalists Association issued a statement urging pages supporting politicians to stop harassing the media, following the publication of Nation group journalists’ names for supporters to hunt them down. Nattawut stated that he uses only one Facebook communication channel, which is his official page. “Nattawut Saikua” www.facebook.com/Nattawut.UDD is the only name he uses, and he has no connection whatsoever to the use of his name in any Facebook Groups. If any Facebook pages are created or used under similar names, they are actions by others and are not conducted by him or his team.”
He also urged those communicating via social media, regardless of platform, to communicate constructively, respect everyone’s rights and freedoms, and act within the law. Actions that affect individual rights and freedoms by spreading falsehoods causing damage to organizations or institutions must be legally accountable.
Media organizations advise Nattawut to restrain fan clubs
Earlier, the Freedom and Media Reform Division of the Thai Journalists Association expressed concern about the publication of personal data of a female journalist on a Facebook page supporting a well-known politician. (The page named “Nattawut Saikua Fc” posted by “Yen Cham Yen Cham” ) revealed personal details, including photos, names, phone numbers, and addresses, along with inflammatory messages inciting harsh criticism and aiming to endanger the journalist’s safety. The journalist was accused of sarcastically questioning and mocking the Pheu Thai Party leader during an incident on 6 March 2026 at the House of Representatives.
An investigation found that the targeted journalist was not involved or present during the incident. Legal action is being prepared against those posting such information to protect rights. The actions of the fan group on that page lack factual basis and amount to serious harassment of press freedom. The association calls on the page owners or those named to restrain their fan clubs from illegal acts to preserve a constructive communication atmosphere and end threats against media duties.
Nation Group prepares legal action
Krungthep Turakij, a media outlet under the Nation Group, issued a statement as the employer of the female journalist targeted in the “Nattawut Saikua Fc” Facebook group posts by the account “Yen Cham Yen Cham.” The content included threats and harassment endangering the journalist’s safety, followed by further defamatory and harassing comments from others. Personal information and photos, including names, phone numbers, and addresses, were disclosed, clearly violating the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and containing defamatory, inflammatory language intended to incite hatred and harm the journalist.
Krungthep Turakij clarified that the incident on 6 March 2026 at the House of Representatives involved a journalist who was not involved or present as alleged by the posts. They demand the immediate removal of the violating content and reserve the right to take legal action against those responsible.
