
The Secretary-General of the House of Representatives revealed readiness to hold the parliamentary opening ceremony on 14 March at 17:00. The vote for the Speaker and Deputy Speakers will be on 15 March starting at 9:00, after MPs take their oath.
11 March 2026 Mr. Siroj Paethapan, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives spoke at the Parliament building regarding the announcement of the Royal Decree summoning the Parliament session for 2026. He stated that on 14 March, the Parliament is ready to hold the opening ceremony on that day. The Secretariat of the House of Representatives will invite Members of the House (MPs), Senators, the Prime Minister, Cabinet members, diplomats, heads of independent organizations, and relevant agencies to attend the ceremony in the ceremonial hall on the 11th floor of the Parliament building at 17:00. The Secretariat has already prepared the venue for the ceremony.
Regarding the opening of Parliament to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speakers, the majority party has confirmed readiness for 15 March. Therefore, the Secretariat will convene Parliament on that day from 09:00, allowing MPs to take their oath before performing duties, followed by the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers. The number of Deputy Speakers will depend on Parliament's deliberation and resolution.
As for the next session to vote for the Prime Minister, the Secretary-General stated that it must wait until the Speaker and Deputy Speakers approved by Parliament and officially appointed by royal decree are in place. Only then can the date for the parliamentary session to vote for the Prime Minister be determined.
