Election Commission Provides Additional Statement on Arrest Warrants for Six Citizens Police Confirm No Charges Filed Yet

The Election Commission promptly gave additional testimony regarding the arrest warrants issued for six citizens during the re-election in Khan Na Yao district on 22 Feb. Police confirm no charges have been filed against anyone yet. Meanwhile, Somchai plans to visit the Crime Suppression Division tomorrow to inquire about the details of the allegations.

At 10:00 a.m. on 11 March 2026 at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Mr. Kanchit Charoenin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, along with Lt. Commander Samphan Saengdamlert, Director of the Bangkok Election Commission, went to meet investigators at the Crime Suppression Division to provide additional testimony authorized by the Election Commission in a case involving complaints against a group of six individuals.

The complaint relates to disturbances that occurred during the re-election voting in Khan Na Yao district on 22 February. The Election Commission filed multiple serious charges, including violations under the Election Commission Act B.E. 2560 (2017), Section 66 paragraph two; Penal Code Section 116 (incitement); Section 209 (criminal conspiracy); Section 322; and the Computer Crime Act Section 14.

However, Mr. Kanchit did not make any statements to the media and went directly to meet the investigators. Meanwhile, Lt. Commander Samphan briefly said, “I came with my lawyer.”

Pol. Lt. Gen. Nattasak Chaowanasi, Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, revealed that this visit was to provide additional testimony because the documents were incomplete during the initial complaint filing. Regarding the charges, he confirmed that “no charges have been filed against anyone yet” because investigators are still questioning the complainants and need to complete questioning the election committee members in Khan Na Yao district first.

Regarding the accused, it was reported that tomorrow (12 March) at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, a former Election Commissioner and one of the six individuals named, will personally visit the Crime Suppression Division to inquire about all the allegations, verify who filed the complaints, and confirm whether the facts align with the Election Commission’s statements.
