
The Navy spokesman said the Navy is monitoring the situation of a Thai cargo ship attacked near the Strait of Hormuz and is expediting coordination to assist the 23 Thai crew members.
At 16:00 on 11 March 2026, Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiphan, the Navy spokesman, revealed that today (11 March 2026), the Maritime Traffic Control Center of the Navy Operations Center received an initial report that at approximately 11:00, a Thai-flagged bulk cargo ship named “Mayuree Naree” with a deadweight tonnage of about 30,000 tons, owned by Precious Shipping Public Company Limited, was attacked while sailing in the sea area near the Strait of Hormuz. The ship had departed from Khalifa port, United Arab Emirates, at 03:00 today.
After receiving the incident report, the Navy Operations Center promptly coordinated for assistance through the international maritime security cooperation framework. A naval liaison officer stationed with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) contacted the Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat, Oman, to request immediate help. Currently, the Oman Navy has assisted 20 crew members and is working to assist the remaining three. The 20 rescued Thai crew members were brought ashore in Khasab, Oman, where their safety is being ensured. The cause of the attack is still under further investigation.
The Navy Operations Center will continue to closely monitor the situation and expedite coordination with relevant domestic and international agencies to ensure the swift and safe assistance of all 23 Thai crew members. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
