Thai Cargo Ship Mayuree Naree Bangkok Shot in Strait of Hormuz Navy Chief Confirms 23 Crew Members Safe with No Fatalities

The Navy Chief is urgently coordinating with Bahrain and Oman after the Thai ship “Mayuree Naree Bangkok” was shot in the Strait of Hormuz. Twenty crew members have been rescued, three remain onboard. There are no fatalities. The responsible party remains unknown.


On 11 March 2026 GMT+7, the Thai ship Mayuree Naree Bangkok was shot in the Strait of Hormuz. Admiral Thadawut Tadpitakkul, Chief of Naval Staff, revealed that the Navy has received reports that a Thai commercial ship was fired upon in the Strait of Hormuz. The Navy personnel stationed in Bahrain have leveraged their relations to contact Oman, requesting assistance for all crew members.

At this stage, it is known that 20 crew members have been rescued while three remain on the ship. It is under investigation whether any of the 23 crew members were injured, but it is confirmed there are no fatalities. The cause of the attack on the Thai commercial ship is still being investigated to determine the responsible party.

The Navy further reported that the vessel is a Thai-flagged general cargo ship named “Mayuree Naree.” It has a deadweight tonnage of approximately 30,000 tons and is owned by Precious Shipping Public Company Limited. The ship was attacked while sailing near the Strait of Hormuz after departing Khalifa Port, United Arab Emirates, at 03:00 GMT+7 today.
