Torpong from Thai Sang Thai expressed concern for the lives of Thai crew members following a new wave of attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, supporting the use of diplomatic mechanisms to protect the welfare of Thai people.
On 12 March 2026, Torpong Chaisarn, Deputy Leader of the Thai Sang Thai Party (TST), commented on the attack against the Thai-flagged cargo ship "Mayuree Naree" in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a significant warning signal regarding the safety of Thai citizens and the nation's economic interests amid escalating geopolitical tensions. He stressed that the most urgent priority is coordinating efforts to assist the stranded crew in safely returning to their families as quickly as possible, utilizing diplomatic channels at all levels to negotiate and build understanding with countries in the region. This is to ensure that civilians and neutral cargo ships receive protection under international principles.
Torpong added that the government and relevant agencies must take proactive measures to assess the forthcoming impacts, especially on transportation costs and energy prices, since the Strait of Hormuz is a key global strategic route. Any disruption or increased risks will ultimately affect the cost of living for the public. Therefore, adopting a neutral stance while firmly upholding correctness and public safety is imperative and requires urgent action. He also proposed reviewing plans for supporting Thai workers abroad to cover crisis situations arising from regional conflicts, assuring citizens that the government is prepared to provide care and assistance in all scenarios, regardless of their location worldwide.
