Profile of Lertsak Patanachayakul, the 2nd Deputy Speaker Candidate from Pheu Thai

Introducing Lertsak Patanachayakul, a three-term MP from Loei province, with wealth exceeding 100 million baht, nominated as the 2nd Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives after the Pheu Thai Party decided to submit his name. The parliamentary vote is set for 15 March 2026 GMT+7.


On 12 March 2026 GMT+7, following a meeting of the Pheu Thai Party's executive committee, a decision was made. Mr. Lertsak Patanachayakul, Deputy Party Leader for Loei, put himself forward as the candidate for the 2nd Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. The vote for the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the House will be held on 15 March 2026 GMT+7 starting at 09:00, as announced by the Secretariat of the House of Representatives. This follows the official opening of the parliamentary session on 14 March at the Sappaya-Sapasathan ceremonial hall. Previously, another Pheu Thai candidate for the same position was Ms. Monporn Charoensri, MP from Nakhon Phanom, which had been circulating as a possibility.

Profile of Lertsak Patanachayakul

Mr. Lertsak Patanachayakul, nicknamed Pok, was born on 7 July 1971 and will turn 55 in 2026. He holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Mercer University, US.

Having been elected for his third term as MP, Mr. Lertsak previously served multiple terms as mayor of Wang Saphung before moving into national politics. He has also served on several parliamentary committees, including as spokesperson for the Sports Commission and as a member of the special committee studying the impacts of joining the CPTPP.

Mr. Lertsak served multiple terms as mayor of Wang Saphung before entering the 2019 election under the Pheu Thai banner, winning a seat in the 25th House. He was re-elected in 2023 and is currently serving his third term as Loei MP in the 27th House of Representatives.

He has previously held roles as spokesperson for the Sports Commission, and served on special committees examining prevention and solutions to rape and sexual abuse, as well as studying the impacts of CPTPP membership.

Further reports indicate that the Pheu Thai Party meeting approved Mr. Lertsak’s nomination, given his third-term status. According to his asset declaration submitted to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, he owns assets totaling over 104 million baht.
