Nan Boonthida Somchai was born on 7 February 1984 and is currently 42 years old. She is the daughter of Issara Somchai, a well-known former politician from Ubon Ratchathani and a former leader of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC). She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in political science from Ramkhamhaeng University.

Political career path.

Nan Boonthida Somchai entered politics as an assistant to her father, MP Issara Somchai. In 2009, she was appointed advisor to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security (Issara Somchai). She was first elected as MP for Ubon Ratchathani in the 2011 election, representing the Democrat Party.

On 13 December 2022, Nan Boonthida resigned from the Democrat Party, resulting in the loss of her MP status for Ubon Ratchathani's 8th district. She then joined the Palang Pracharath Party on 16 December 2022. Prior to that, on 4 October 2022, she attended the birthday party of Newin Chidchob, chairman of Buriram United Football Club in Buriram Province, and referred to him as 'Uncle Newin.' Newin reportedly told everyone, 'My father has entrusted her to me to take care of.'

On 24 March 2024, the Palang Pracharath Party officially appointed Nan Boonthida as party spokesperson to communicate the party's political work to the media and the public. She has performed well in clarifying and responding to political issues.

In the most recent election on 8 February 2026, Nan Boonthida, running in Ubon Ratchathani's 8th district, successfully retained her seat by defeating a strong challenger from the Thai Ruam Palang Party in a fiercely contested race.
