Sihasak Criticizes Cambodia for Interfering in Thai Affairs After Cambodian Parliament Members Ask South Korea Not to Sell Aircraft to Thailand

Sihasak criticized Cambodia for interfering in Thai affairs after Cambodian parliament members asked South Korea not to sell aircraft to Thailand, urging an end to involving third parties.

On 13 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, commented on the Thailand-Cambodia situation, stating that Thailand emphasizes its ceasefire and desires its sustainability. He expressed a wish to use this time to build mutual trust and explore ways to restore relations. This reflects Thailand's intention to move forward. However, he is concerned and uneasy that Cambodia seems to be moving backward, as their words do not align with their actions—such as attempts to internationalize the Thailand-Cambodia issue through forums like the United Nations, UNESCO, and the International Court of Justice, which complicate problem resolution. Regarding the JBC meeting to jointly demarcate the border, Thailand is ready to consider it but must wait for a new government before proceeding. This step is part of preparing for the meeting. Therefore, no actions should undermine bilateral efforts to resolve the dispute.

Mr. Sihasak also stated that recently, during a South Korean parliamentary delegation's visit to Cambodia, Cambodian parliament members requested South Korea not to sell fighter jets to Thailand. He considers this interference inappropriate as Cambodia should not intervene in Thailand's internal affairs or involve third parties. He urged Cambodia to look forward and avoid complicating the situation further, so that a clearer path toward restoring bilateral relations can be seen.
