"Abhisit and Chuan" led the elected Democrat Party MPs to take a group photo in front of the Earth Goddess statue before attending the 2026 Parliament Opening Ceremony.
At 1:00 p.m. on 14 March 2026, at the Earth Goddess statue plaza, the Democrat Party Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, party list Member of Parliament and leader of the Democrat Party, together with Mr. Chuan Leekpai, former party leader, and Mr. Chaiwut Bannawat, party secretary-general, led 21 party MPs in paying respects to the Earth Goddess, the party's sacred symbol, followed by a group photo. This was to demonstrate their readiness to perform their duties as representatives of the people.
They then proceeded to the Parliament Building at Kiakkai to join the state ceremony and pay respects to His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of their royal visit to preside over the opening ceremony of the first regular parliamentary session of the year. This took place in the Parliament Building meeting room in Dusit district, marking the start of the 2026 parliamentary session.
