On 15 Mar 2026 at 08:05 GMT+7 at the Parliament, Attakorn Sirilattayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports and registrar of the Kla Tham party, spoke before the House of Representatives session about the party’s direction on voting for the Speaker. He said there would be further discussions this morning after initial talks on 14 Mar regarding their work and approach.
When asked if the party planned to abstain or oppose the Speaker vote, Attakorn jokingly asked reporters, "Are there only two options?" When pressed about whether Kla Tham would vote in favor, he replied they would take time to finalize the decision before the meeting, aiming for a unanimous resolution.
When further questioned about the preliminary discussion’s direction,MPswould lean towards—approval or disapproval—Attakorn described it as "moderate." Asked if "moderate" meant abstaining, he said, "We haven’t discussed that yet, but it’s moderate because members have diverse opinions. They were given homework to think it over overnight."
Attakorn revealed that Col. Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, who is also Kla Tham’s advisory chairman, and Narumol Pinsuwan, Minister of Education and party leader, do not impose decisions but from the start have wanted the party to move in a unified direction.
