At 09:20 on 15 March 2026, at Room 202 of the Parliament Building, Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, serving as the Kla Tham Party's advisory chairman, and Mrs. Narumon Pinyo Sinwattana, Minister of Education and party leader, co-chaired a meeting of the party's MPs to discuss the voting direction for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.
Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat said today is the first day of fully becoming a member of the House of Representatives. He congratulated everyone on reaching this point, acknowledging the hardships faced. Upon entering parliamentary sessions, members take an oath to perform their duties. MPs can speak anytime they wish, but they must carefully read the rules. Having served three terms himself, he admitted he still does not remember all the rules. He emphasized doing the job well because families watch to see when MPs speak, noting that sessions are broadcast live on the parliamentary TV channel. Usually, MPs meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays unless there are important issues, such as joint sessions of the House and Senate.
Then, at 09:25, Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat revealed after the Kla Tham Party meeting that the MPs had resolved to abstain from voting for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker positions.
