The government is advancing efforts to make Thailand the filming center of the Asian region and plans to participate in FILMART 2026, aiming to attract film crews from Hong Kong and China to invest more than 1.5 billion baht in filming in Thailand.
On 15 March 2026, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government, through the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, is preparing to participate in an exhibition booth at the event. The Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) will be held from 17–20 March 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China aims to attract film and TV series crews from Hong Kong and mainland China to shoot in Thailand, expecting to generate an investment value of no less than 1.5 billion baht.
Ms. Airin said that during this participation, the Tourism Department will present Thailand's potential as an international film shooting destination and promote film incentive measures for foreign productions in Thailand (Cash Rebate) of up to 30%, including filming permit procedures and facilitation by government agencies, production services, diverse filming locations, studios, filming equipment, and skilled film production personnel ready to support crews from around the world.
“Statistics on foreign film shoots in Thailand in 2025 show that crews from Hong Kong ranked seventh, investing over 302 million baht, while crews from the People's Republic of China ranked third with investments exceeding 372 million baht. This reflects the potential and interest of content producers from both markets in Thailand. Participating in the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) is an important opportunity to promote Thailand's potential as Asia's filming hub, build networks with film producers, content distributors, and production service providers from many countries, which will help increase opportunities to attract foreign film crews to shoot in Thailand.” Ms. Airin added.
