A profile of Suchart Chomklin, longtime adversary of MP Ice Rakchanok, returns as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment in Anutin's second cabinet, representing a familiar face in the same government.
On 31 March 2026, the list of ministers in Anutin's second cabinet was as expected. The Royal Gazette published the appointment of Suchart Chomklin, a prominent figure from Chonburi who switched to the blue camp of the Bhumjaithai Party. After overcoming controversy over demands for a vote recount in Chonburi's 1st district, he secured his position as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment without dispute.
Mentioning the name “Suchart Chomklin” it is believed that everyone knows him well. Mr. Heng has an extraordinary career and life story. From a young man in Chonburi from a rather poor family, he struggled through various jobs including real estate sales and banking before rising to become CEO of a property company in Chonburi and Rayong. His life then took a turn toward politics, working with “Kamnan Por” Somchai Khunpleum, beginning his political career at age 26 as “Saen Suk Subdistrict Councillor” successfully elected.
Since separating from the large Chonburi faction to create a “new house” affiliated with the Palang Pracharath Party, then the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, and finally joining Bhumjaithai as a team, the name Suchart Chomklin has continuously held ministerial positions, including Minister of Labor, Deputy Minister of Commerce, and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
In the recent 2026 election, Mr. Heng performed well, winning the Chonburi 1st district seat after joining forces with the large Khunpleum faction, reclaiming the district from the People’s Party along with several other districts in Chonburi. This secured his seat as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
He is considered a long-standing rival of MP Rakchanok Srinok from the People’s Party, who investigated irregularities during Suchart’s tenure as Minister of Labor, leading to ongoing legal disputes between them.
