
"Supachai" is preparing to unveil measures to help the public cope with the energy crisis, hinting at announcements after tomorrow's Cabinet meeting.
On 16 March 2026, Ms. Supachai Suthumpun, Minister of Commerce, revealed after meeting with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to address the energy crisis caused by the Middle East conflict, which has affected consumer goods prices. She stated that she is preparing to propose assistance measures to the Cabinet meeting on 17 March and urged the public to await clear details from the Center for Monitoring Middle East Conflict Situations (CMCS).
Meanwhile, Mr. Lawan Sangsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, remains reserved and declined to comment on whether the government would need to issue a loan decree to compensate the oil fund. He briefly directed inquiries to Mr. Akniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, amid close attention from various parties on rising cost-of-living relief measures.
