Accelerating the Energy Saving Plus Squared Measures to Reduce the Cost of Living for the Public

The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency is accelerating the "Energy Saving Plus Squared" measures to reduce the public's cost of living. Installing Solar Rooftop systems allows tax deductions up to 200,000 baht, alongside a Co-pay program for factories and business operators.

18 Mar 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Patcharee Jongrak, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, stated at a press conference at the Government House that the government is currently using the Fuel Oil Fund as a mechanism to stabilize prices to minimize the impact on the public, while simultaneously accelerating efforts to secure additional energy sources, focusing on greater reliance on domestic energy resources.

. The "Energy Saving Plus Squared" measures The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency has requested cooperation from all sectors, especially industry and business groups which are high energy consumers, to develop energy-saving plans over the next 1-3 months, such as adjusting machinery operating hours or managing air conditioning temperatures.

Meanwhile, the government has a clear target, according to the Cabinet resolution on 10 March, to reduce energy use by 10% through promoting Work From Home (WFH) and online meetings to decrease fuel consumption. Additionally, there are attractive benefits for citizens and operators, such as tax deductions up to 200,000 baht for installing Solar Rooftop systems.

There is also a program for operators promoting the replacement of machinery with high-efficiency models through the Co-pay program, where the government supports 20-30% of the budget, up to 3 million baht per applicant. These initiatives are expected to significantly save energy. In the transport sector, the department encourages operators to upgrade equipment and transport management systems, aiming to reduce energy use by 20-30%, with funding up to 2 million baht per establishment.

Furthermore, the Department of Alternative Energy Development collaborates with financial institutions to offer fair loans to borrowers for equipment upgrades and to enhance energy efficiency in establishments. Citizens with inquiries can contact the department's Energy Conservation Clinic, which also provides consultancy services, at 063-826-9784.

However, Ms. Patcharee emphasized that we will join hands and unite efforts to reduce energy use, overcoming the situation affecting our cost of living together, and to build the country's energy security. .
