Chadchart Orders Facilitation for Oil Transport Trucks to Resolve Delivery Delays

Chadchart has ordered facilitation for oil transport trucks to solve delivery delays. Although the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration does not have direct legal enforcement authority, it is ready to fully cooperate.

On 18 March 2026, Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, commented on facilitating oil transport within Bangkok after the Ministry of Energy requested cooperation to relax the operating hours of oil trucks. This aims to improve the smooth distribution of oil amid a surge of people rushing to refuel, which has caused sales at gas stations to spike and led to delays in transporting oil from depots to stations at certain times.

Chadchart stated that Bangkok is fully prepared to cooperate within its capacity. He has instructed the Permanent Secretary of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Narong Ruangsri, to coordinate with relevant agencies to facilitate and ensure mutual understanding. However, the BMA does not have direct authority to enforce laws concerning the entry and exit of trucks, as this responsibility lies with the police and the Department of Land Transport.
