Lawyer Aun Requests Constitutional Court to Postpone Prime Minister Vote Until Barcode Ballot Case Is Resolved

Lawyer Aun has requested the Constitutional Court to postpone the prime minister voting session scheduled for 19 Mar 2026 until the court delivers a ruling on the election ballot case involving the use of Barcode and QR Code.

At 14:00 on 18 Mar 2026, Mr. Pattarapong Suphakorn, also known as Lawyer Aun from Buriram, went to submit a petition to the Constitutional Court at the Petition Reception and Case Consultation Unit of the Constitutional Court Office in order to request a temporary protective order for the House of Representatives to postpone or refrain from holding the prime minister voting session temporarily. This is until the consideration and ruling on the case concerning the Election Commission's organization of the general election for House of Representatives members on 8 Feb 2026, which established the design and printing of ballots using Barcode and QR Code, which are believed to allow identification and verification of voters as well as vote results, thus compromising the secrecy of the ballot and potentially violating the constitution.

Mr. Pattarapong further stated, Previously, in a petition he submitted to the Ombudsman, he requested the Constitutional Court to issue a temporary protective order forbidding the House of Representatives from voting for the prime minister on 19 March. However, upon learning that the Constitutional Court's meeting concluded the Ombudsman did not forward this request for consideration, he personally filed a new petition with the Constitutional Court. Nevertheless, according to the court's procedures, it is unlikely the prime minister vote on 19 March can be postponed.
