18 March 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, party-list MP and deputy leader of the People's Party (PChon). She gave an interview regarding the prime ministerial vote set for 19 March, stating The People's Party reiterated that we have nominated Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party leader and prime ministerial candidate, to run for prime minister. This is one way for us to both scrutinize the qualifications of the prime ministerial candidates and take the opportunity to present the vision of the People's Party candidate. We have no intention to form a competing government. We fully understand that the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) can secure the majority. However, to keep the democratic process lively and allow discussion of visions for national administration, we have decided to field the People's Party candidate in this prime ministerial vote.
When asked if she was confident there would be no party MPs defecting or becoming 'snakes' during the vote, Ms. Sirikanya replied, I am confident that party members will unanimously vote for Mr. Natthapong. I confirm that there are no defectors. However, we have not coordinated or sought votes from other opposition parties. We will let the prime ministerial vote proceed naturally.
