Announcement Declares Injectable Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) Drugs as Specially Controlled Substances

The Ministry of Public Health has announced that injectable Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) drugs will be classified as specially controlled substances, effective 180 days after the day following the announcement's publication in the Government Gazette.


On 18 March 2026, the website of the Government Gazette published the Ministry of Public Health's Announcement on Specially Controlled Drugs, No. 58, stating that, under the authority granted by Section 76 (4) of the Drug Act B.E. 2510 (1967), as amended by the Drug Act (No. 3) B.E. 2522 (1979), and Section 78 of the Drug Act B.E. 2510, the Minister of Public Health, upon the recommendation of the Drug Committee at its 421-5/2567 meeting on 20 September 2024, issues the following announcement:

Article 1 This announcement shall take effect 180 days after the day following its publication in the Government Gazette.

Article 2 adds the following as item (100) to Article 3 of the Ministry of Public Health's Announcement on Specially Controlled Drugs dated 26 May 1978: “(100) Injectable Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) drugs”
