Secretary Sarawong Quickly Clarifies: Election Commission and Secretary Will No Longer Travel Abroad for Study with Advanced Political and Electoral Development Students Following Cabinets Cooperation Request

No longer going. Secretary Sarawong promptly clarified that the Election Commission and the Secretary will not join the overseas study trip with Advanced Political and Electoral Development students following the Cabinet's letter requesting cooperation.

On 19 March 2026, reporters reported that on 18 March, following news reports that the Election Commission Chairman and senior management of the office would lead a delegation of Advanced Political and Electoral Development students on an overseas study visit, Secretary Sarawong Bunmee clarified that the Election Commission Chairman, commissioners, and Secretary would not be traveling abroad as reported.

He stated that the decision to cancel the overseas trip was made after discussions at the Election Commission meeting last Monday, following receipt of the Cabinet's cooperation request letter urging agencies to suspend overseas study visits. "The Election Commission Chairman, all commissioners, and the Secretary did not travel abroad for the study visit with the Advanced Political and Electoral Development students as reported. Details will be provided in a press briefing tomorrow (19 March)."
