Topong Concerned as Thai Sang Thai Party Still Divided Over PM Vote Says He Will Decline Party Leadership Role if No Resolution

Topong is concerned that the Thai Sang Thai Party remains divided over the prime minister vote. After the executive committee resolved to assign the acting party leader to discuss with two MPs, he declared that if no conclusion is reached, he will not accept any party leadership position.

On 19 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Topong Chaiyasan, deputy leader of the Thai Sang Thai Party (TST), spoke about the political situation, saying there are many worrying issues currently. He emphasized the urgent need for a capable government. However, due to various events and the party receiving fewer votes than expected in the last election, he is aware there remain differing opinions within the party regarding the prime minister vote. He understands everyone’s concerns about the current situation, even though the party has resolved to have the acting leader handle negotiations to coordinate support for a majority government.

Therefore, he stated his personal stance: if differing votes occur due to the absence of a conclusion, he intends to decline any party administrative position at the upcoming ordinary party meeting. He also sent encouragement to the new party executive committee to perform their duties effectively in the future.
