Anutin Unaware of Prachachon Partys Nomination for Prime Minister Declines to Say if Kla Tham Will Vote Support

Anutin Chalermvirojkul is unaware if the Prachachon Party will nominate a candidate to compete for prime minister. He declined to comment on whether the Kla Tham Party will vote to support him, expressing more concern about the workload ahead than about gaining additional votes. He said he is glad to work with all parties and is open to all suggestions.

On 19 Mar 2026 GMT+7, at the Parliament building, Anutin Chalermvirojkul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, spoke about his feelings before the prime ministerial vote. He said that earlier in the coalition meeting, he thanked all parties for their confidence in voting for him as prime minister, but the parliamentary session still needs to be completed first. When asked if there were signs that the Kla Tham Party would vote to support him, Anutin declined to answer.

When reporters asked again about the vote for prime minister expected to proceed smoothly today, Anutin said he is pleased to have the opportunity to work with coalition parties and even parties outside the coalition. If there are any suggestions beneficial to the public, the nation, and the people, this prime minister is ready to listen and cooperate. When asked if he was concerned that the Prachachon Party might nominate a rival candidate, Anutin replied only that he did not know.

Asked whether other political parties would join in voting to support him as prime minister, Anutin said that all parties have been invited, and the votes are sufficient.

When asked if he was worried about support outside the coalition parties, Anutin laughed and asked why reporters often ask if he is worried, then replied, "I am more concerned about the work ahead."

Regarding his first tasks after assuming the prime ministership, Anutin did not answer and proceeded directly to attend the parliamentary session.
