
In the 2026 prime ministerial vote, the parliamentary majority chose Anutin Charnvirakul in a predictable victory of 293 to 119, making him the 32nd Prime Minister for a second term.
On 19 March 2026, after closing the debate on qualifications to consider approval for appointing a Prime Minister under Article 159 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, the vote began by roll call of all 499 Members of Parliament (MPs). Two candidates were nominated: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, and Nattapong Rueangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, starting at 12:12.
By 13:06, the voting results showed Anutin Charnvirakul had received more than 251 votes, thus obtaining the approval of more than half of the MPs to become Prime Minister.

The Speaker of the House summarized that the assembly approved Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister and adjourned the meeting at 13:22.
However, the next step after being elected Prime Minister is to await the royal appointment before officially assuming the office. Anutin will continue as the 32nd Prime Minister for a second term.
