The Prime Minister expressed regret over the deaths of Thai workers in Israel due to the conflict and emphasized that the Thai government is ready to facilitate those wishing to return home. He urged Thai workers to follow the safety guidelines provided by the host country.
At 18:40 on 19 March 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, commented on the case of Thai workers in Israel who died amid the Middle East conflict. He said that regarding assistance, the Ministry of Labour already has measures in place, and normally, the Israeli government fully attends to the injured and deceased from such incidents. Personally, I want workers to follow the advice of their host country and the local authorities, because from initial information, the deceased was not in a bomb shelter but may have been retrieving belongings or attending to matters at their residence when the incident occurred, which is very unfortunate.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Thai workers in Israel who follow these recommendations remain safe. The Thai government stands ready to fully assist any workers wishing to return to Thailand temporarily.
When asked whether Thai workers in Israel have contacted authorities since the conflict began, the Prime Minister said, "Some want to return, but no one wants to leave because of livelihood and earning opportunities. However, the number wishing to return is fewer than those choosing to stay. The government is fully supporting this, knowing that in some parts of Israel farther from the fighting, people continue their normal lives and work." Employers also have protocols requiring workers to seek shelter in case of incidents and conduct systematic drills and preparations.
