The Ministry of Labor, via the Middle East Conflict Situation Center, visited the family and coordinated benefits for the Thai worker who died in Israel. They are preparing to send the body back to Thailand after the autopsy, and have instructed the embassy in Israel to ensure workers remain in safe zones.
At 11:10 a.m. on 20 March 2026, the Middle East Conflict Situation Management and Monitoring Center held a press conference at the Government House. Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary and spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor, revealed the ministry's efforts to care for and assist the rights and benefits of Thai workers. The Ministry of Labor expressed its deepest condolences to the family of the Thai worker who died in his room at 11:45 p.m. Israeli time on 18 March, due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The deceased worker had traveled abroad for employment and was properly registered through the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor, on 28 May 2025. Israeli authorities will conduct an autopsy and return the deceased's body to the family. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labor has visited the deceased's home in Chaiyaphum province to offer comfort and support, as well as to facilitate arrangements for repatriating the body to Thailand.
Regarding benefits, in the case of a member of the Overseas Employment Assistance Fund who dies abroad, the lawful heirs are entitled to benefits including a welfare payment of 40,000 baht and an old-age gratuity of 71,459.14 baht, which are social security benefits, excluding other compensations.
Additionally, there are compensations from the Israeli insurance institution, which include mourning allowances, contributions toward funeral expenses, monthly compensation, annual assistance, and other supports such as children's education fees and psychological aid. The amount depends on the insurance institution’s assessment and exchange rates.
Mr. Santi added, The Ministry of Labor has assigned the labor attaché in Israel to oversee and instruct Thai workers there to stay in safe areas and strictly follow official guidance. Furthermore, regional offices in all 76 provinces have been tasked to communicate with relatives of workers in Thailand, encouraging them to advise workers in the Middle East to exercise increased caution and strictly adhere to any warning signals. .
