Chaiyachana and Chomkrai visited Thung Yai and Tham Phannara districts to monitor the resolution of water shortages, urging the government to urgently address fuel shortages following public distress.
On 20 March 2026, Chaiyachana Deddecho, party-list MP and Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, together with Chomkrai Sawaswong, MP for Nakhon Si Thammarat from the Democrat Party, visited the area to follow up on progress of the Khlong Sang reservoir project, initiated by royal decree, in Krung Yan subdistrict, Thung Yai district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, and in Tham Phannara district. They held meetings with relevant agencies and local officials to hear problems and suggestions directly from the community.
Representatives from various agencies participated, including Sek San Supcharoen, Director of Nakhon Si Thammarat Irrigation Project; Somkiat Mitmoosik, Director of Construction Project, Irrigation Office 15; Monthon Srinun, District Chief of Thung Yai; and Songtham Detsinghsopha, District Chief of Tham Phannara.
Chaiyachana stated that the Khlong Sang reservoir project is crucial for water management in the province, especially in Thung Yai district, benefiting both consumption and agricultural sectors. It aims to improve residents' quality of life long-term. However, challenges remain, including budget constraints, procedural delays, and impacts on some residents. He urged related agencies to expedite project implementation according to plan, listen comprehensively to public opinions, and thoroughly survey local water needs to guide water management planning that aligns with actual demand, maximizing benefits and minimizing community impact.
Additionally, the delegation met residents in Thung Yai and Tham Phannara districts to inquire about fuel usage after complaints of fuel shortages during certain periods. This shortage affects travel, livelihoods, and agricultural costs. Their inquiry revealed widespread distress, especially among farmers and transport workers facing higher costs and uncertain fuel availability.
Chaiyachana therefore called on the government to urgently verify facts and resolve the fuel shortage issue, while establishing preventive measures to avoid recurrence. This aims to alleviate public hardship and ensure energy security. The Democrat Party affirmed its commitment to monitor and promote both water management projects and solutions to living cost problems, ensuring they proceed efficiently, transparently, and sustainably for the maximum benefit of the people.
