
The Prime Minister is preparing to open the 200th anniversary celebration of Thao Suranari’s Victory Day, with highlights including the traditional cloth draping ceremony and a grand drone light display.
On 20 March 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is scheduled to visit Nakhon Ratchasima Province on 23 March 2026 at 17:00 to preside over the opening of the “2026 Thao Suranari Victory Day Celebration” at the Thao Suranari Monument plaza, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima.
The Prime Minister will also welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak Akara Ratchakumari, the Princess Srinagarindra, who will attend to observe key activities during the event to commemorate and honor the heroic deeds of Thao Suranari, the brave heroine who successfully defended Korat from the Vientiane army on 23 March 1826.
This year marks the special 200th anniversary of her heroism, celebrated under the theme “200 Years of Glorious Heroism, Unfading Faith” from 23 March to 3 April 2026. Highlights include a graceful ceremonial procession and worship dance, the traditional cloth draping ceremony at the Ya Mo Monument, a historical light and sound show, and an advanced drone light display. Additionally, there will be a local product market to promote the area's economy and tourism.
