
Attapol ordered provincial energy officers to closely monitor gas stations and oil storage sites nationwide. Initial findings in Ang Thong revealed violations including failure to report transport invoices and selling fuel above the regulated price.
On 22 March 2026, Attapol Rerkpiboon, Minister of Energy, stated that he urgently instructed provincial energy officers nationwide to closely follow up on the operations of gas stations and oil storage facilities under the Ministry of Energy's supervision. He also emphasized continuous reporting on investigations into fuel hoarding.
Regarding fuel hoarding found in Ang Thong Province, which is currently under fact-finding to determine if it qualifies as hoarding, preliminary violations were identified such as failure to report transport invoices and selling fuel at prices exceeding legal limits. Regardless of the investigation outcome, if legal action is possible, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Commerce will fully cooperate to punish offenders to set an example.
"I have instructed provincial energy officers across the country to closely monitor the situation and report continuously. Operations will be conducted jointly with the Ministry of Interior, provincial commerce officers, and police to prevent hoarding or selling at excessively high prices. The Ministry of Energy will continue to monitor this situation until normal conditions resume to assure consumers," Attapol said. Attapol stated.
