Government Praises Team Thailand for Surpassing Targets in Attracting Foreign Film Productions, Expected to Generate 2.48 Billion Baht

The government praised Team Thailand for demonstrating its capabilities at the Hong Kong Film & TV Market 2026, surpassing targets in attracting foreign film productions to Thailand, with an expected revenue of no less than 2.48 billion baht.

On 24 March 2026, Ms. Airin Panrit revealed that the government praised Team Thailand for exceeding their goals by participating in the Hong Kong Film & TV Market 2026 exhibition from 17–20 March 2026 in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. They promoted Thailand as an international film shooting destination, highlighting the country's diverse filming locations, professional crew capabilities, and film production incentives offering a 15–30% cash rebate to attract foreign film producers.

Ms. Airin stated that during the event, more than 300 foreign film producers continuously inquired about filming in Thailand. Most were from China and Hong Kong, as well as producers from the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, New Zealand, India, Indonesia, and other countries. Notably, 23 producers showed clear interest with plans to film in Thailand within the next 1–2 years, expected to generate at least 2.48 billion baht in revenue. This reflects foreign producers' confidence in Thailand as a premier global filming destination.

The success of this participation resulted from integrated cooperation among government agencies, including the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Ministry of Commerce, and Ministry of Culture, jointly driving promotion of the Thai film industry on the international stage. It also involved bringing Thai entrepreneurs to negotiate business with foreign film producers, receiving excellent responses and reinforcing Thailand's capacity as a global film production and service hub.
