On 24 March 2026 at Phra Ratchawang Metropolitan Police Station on Maharaj Road, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul paid respects at the Pu Dam Shrine and the National Emblem. The ceremony was attended by Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, Minister of Culture; Mr. Assisit Sampantarat, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry; Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Metropolitan Police Commander; Police Colonel Phawat Watthasuphat, Commander of Phra Ratchawang Police Station; police officers; and members of the public.
At 08:40, the Prime Minister arrived and took his seat at the designated area for the ritual ceremony. He then paid respects to the sacred symbols in the shrine, including Pu Dam, the guardian spirit, the National Emblem, Mother Earth, and a standing statue of Luang Pu Mahasila. Afterwards, he was given a briefing on the history of the Pu Dam Shrine and the National Emblem.
At 09:09, the Prime Minister presided over the lighting of incense and candles before the ritual altar to perform the ceremony and solemnly invoke the National Emblem, which is regarded as the highest sacred symbol reflecting national identity and the bond with the monarchy. A Brahmin then recited sacred chants and conducted the ritual. The Prime Minister proceeded to scatter rice grains and flower petals, marking the conclusion of the ceremony.
Regarding the history: The "National Emblem" was first introduced as the national emblem during the reign of King Rama V and has been in full official use since 1910 CE, making it approximately 116 years old today. The emblem housed within the Phra Ratchawang Metropolitan Police Station symbolizes royal authority and the justice of the nation. The police serve under this emblem's authority to uphold the law and maintain public order. Within the emblem is a Pali incantation inscribed in Thai script on a band, which reads: “สพฺเพสํ สงฺฆภูตานํ สามคฺคี วุฑฺฒิสาธิกา,” meaning “The unity of all individuals who are grouped together is the cause of success and prosperity.”
In recent times, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand's 32nd Prime Minister, has visited to pay respects at the sacred Pu Dam Shrine and the National Emblem during restoration efforts on four occasions: first on Monday, 16 February 2026; second on Tuesday, 3 March 2026; third on Thursday, 19 March 2026; and fourth during the ritual ceremony at the Pu Dam Shrine and National Emblem on Tuesday, 24 March 2026.
