Julapan Confident in Pheu Thai Ministers Qualifications, Denies Internal Party Turmoil

Julapan affirmed that Pheu Thai is free from internal unrest regarding the Anutin 2 cabinet lineup. He emphasized that the allocation of positions has been finalized and is awaiting the Prime Minister's next steps. He is confident that all individuals are fully qualified and have passed thorough screening.

On 24 Mar 2026 at SC Park Hotel, Julapan Amornwiwat, Pheu Thai’s party-list MP and party leader, addressed reports of dissatisfaction among party MPs over the Anutin 2 cabinet lineup. He said there is none; such reports are external speculation. Forming a government requires negotiation and assessing individuals capable of fulfilling their ministerial duties. Qualifications, suitability, and the ability to advance ministries and policies must be considered. Since positions are limited and candidates many, not all can be accommodated, which everyone understands. Currently, there is no movement or unrest within the party; all remain united. He reiterated these are outside speculations, while internally, all members have met and are ready to advance the party’s policies and government work, emphasizing unity.

When asked if the reports do not reflect internal party sentiment, Julapan said he believes there is no dissatisfaction. No one has yet missed opportunities; roles within public representation and other work remain available. Positions as political members and parliamentary roles still exist. Opportunities have not disappeared. Everyone is ready to move forward together with the party.

Asked about rumors that some members feel slighted and might leave the party, Julapan firmly denied this. When pressed whether, as party leader, he can manage MPs’ feelings, he explained that during position allocations—which happens every time, not just now—there are discussions and everyone is ready to work. Pheu Thai’s personnel are experienced and knowledgeable; many are well-prepared. Ultimately, decisions must be made, and once they are, everyone moves forward. Consulting is normal and not unusual.

Regarding the released list, some have suggested Pheu Thai also has spiritual advisors. Julapan said the process is not yet complete, so he would not comment on names. The party has submitted its list to the Prime Minister. The appointment of ministers is fully under the Prime Minister’s authority and awaits royal endorsement. Therefore, at this point, Julapan will not confirm whether the names released are accurate.

Asked if any problematic ministerial candidates have been sent back to Pheu Thai, Julapan confirmed none have. He understands the process is just beginning and is the responsibility of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet Secretary. For now, the only confirmation is that the party has submitted its list to the Prime Minister.

When asked if Pheu Thai has submitted all names for qualification checks, Julapan said that screening is conducted by the Cabinet Secretary’s office. They are confident their personnel can perform well, and the Prime Minister has accepted the names to fill various positions. They trust those chosen have passed multiple screening stages. Many candidates are current or former MPs or ministers and have been vetted repeatedly. Therefore, they are confident in their qualifications.

Asked whether this screening process is stricter than usual and if backup names are prepared, Julapan said he could not comment or provide details. The process is proceeding as planned.
