On 24 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ayrin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that following news reports about a physical education teacher at a school in Buriram province being accused multiple times of abusing students, the Ministry of Education immediately ordered a fact-finding investigation. Such conduct severely violates professional ethics and the Ministry's policies, especially the “Good Learning, Good Morality” policy, which stresses that schools must be the safest places.
Ms. Ayrin said that the Office of the Basic Education Commission under the Ministry of Education has directed the local education office to take strict disciplinary action. The local office has ordered the teacher to be suspended pending further action. Psychologists from the school have already been dispatched to provide psychological support and recovery for the students and their parents. The situation will be closely monitored. Additionally, police have proceeded with criminal charges of indecency based on complaints filed by the parents.
The government, through the Ministry of Education, has instructed all local education offices to supervise and ensure that affiliated schools strictly follow safety measures and emergency plans. In incidents like this, the mental well-being of students is paramount, and offenders must be dealt with firmly. Furthermore, any administrators or supervisors found negligent must be thoroughly investigated and must comply seriously with related measures to prevent recurrence. Regarding concerns about justice in the prosecution process, it is affirmed that no one can assist or interfere in the fact-finding process. If guilt is established, disciplinary and criminal penalties will be enforced decisively.
