Minister Narumon chaired the Teachers and Educational Personnel Commission board meeting to revise the selection criteria for assistant teachers, education area directors, and educational personnel, raising a single standard across the system to reduce vacant positions and meet education quality goals.
On 24 March 2026, Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, presided over the 3/2026 meeting of the Teachers and Educational Personnel Commission, attended by commission members including senior Ministry of Education officials and representatives from related agencies at the Rajavallop meeting room.
Professor Dr. Narumon said the meeting considered and approved the criteria and procedures for selecting individuals for appointment as assistant teachers in cases of necessity or special circumstances, revising the long-standing original criteria (W 16/2557) to align with current educational management conditions. The aim is to ensure selections meet the needs of various agencies and secure personnel with knowledge, skills, school experience, and continuous learner development capability, thereby raising overall education quality. The revisions also cover criteria for candidates in the special development zones of the southern border provinces (W 17/2557) to standardize the process.
Additionally, the meeting approved the draft criteria and procedures for selecting directors of education area offices, shortening the eligibility list validity to no more than two years from the announcement date, adjusting the evaluation to announce no more than four times the number of vacancies passing the first stage, and including performance assessments in the initial evaluation. This increases opportunities to select candidates with educational administration experience and ensures selection of qualified individuals capable of effectively managing education at the local level.
The Secretary-General of the commission stated that limiting the eligibility list for education area directors to two years under the new criteria will help reduce vacant positions and improve workforce management efficiency. The meeting also approved draft criteria and procedures for selecting other educational personnel under Section 38 K.(2) in cases of necessity or special circumstances, revising the process to better match actual job performance.
All these positions play vital roles in advancing the overall education system. The revised criteria will enhance workforce management efficiency to meet future education sector demands. This marks an important step in developing a more flexible, transparent personnel management system for teachers and educational personnel, supporting sustainable education quality development.
