Anutin Quells Rumors, Affirms Normal Situation at Thai-Cambodian Border Military Information Not Misconstrued

The Prime Minister confirmed he had asked the military twice following rumors about a possible third clash, affirming there is nothing to worry about and the public need not be alarmed.

On 24 March 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke about tensions at the Thai-Cambodian border after military intelligence suggested a risk of a third confrontation due to Cambodian forces moving close to the border. The Prime Minister revealed he directly asked General Chaipruk Duangprapat, Army Chief of Staff, to verify the facts and was assured that the Cambodian troop movements were routine rotations, not hostile or preparations for an attack on Thailand.

“Today I asked twice and also sent posts from various news agencies to the military for review, so the Army spokesman could clarify and reassure the public. We already have many issues to solve and do not want additional concerns,” Anutin said.

When asked about the chance of a new clash, the Prime Minister firmly stated that in-depth data and coordination with the army clearly show there is no cause for concern. The military remains vigilant, maintaining normal patrols and keeping equipment ready as a precaution. He urged the public to dismiss fears of confrontation and continue their daily lives, as the government and military are closely monitoring the situation.
