Phokin Pholkul led the Thai Sang Thai Party (TST) executive committee to submit resignation letters, refusing to be complicit with Chatchawan Phatyathai after he acted as a 'snake' by breaking the party resolution to abstain from voting in the prime ministerial election. They urged the remaining executives to expedite resolving the matter.
On 24 March 2026, Phokin Pholkul, former chair of the Thai Sang Thai Party (TST) Strategic Committee, addressed the case of MP Chatchawan Phatyathai from Roi Et, who abstained from voting in the prime ministerial selection on 19 March. This went against the executive committee's resolution to join the government and support Anutin Charnvirakul as prime minister. Phokin stated that following this incident, he and other party leaders had taken action.
These leaders included Acting Deputy Party Chiefs Chaiwat Hansamwong and Watcharapong Uengsrisawat, Acting Deputy Secretary-General Nattawat Porchaiyadej, Party Advisor Direkrit Jenkhrongtham, and Phokin himself. They submitted resignation letters from party membership and all positions to the party registrar on 20 March, expressing concern and unease about the situation. They viewed the actions as contrary to the party's core principles, which clearly emphasize honest, transparent politics and opposition to grey capital involvement. In light of this event, they demonstrated their integrity and commitment to the party ideology, calling for an investigation. The party must act against those who violated the democratic party resolutions and bylaws. Historically, the party has regarded disobedience of party resolutions done in bad faith as a serious ethical breach, leading to disciplinary and ethics committee actions and referral to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). Therefore, they urged the remaining or new executive committee to promptly clarify this issue.
