Anutin Submits Cabinet List for Background Checks, Declines to Confirm Pakorn Inclusion

Anutin has submitted the cabinet list for background checks but cannot disclose it. When asked if 'Pakorn' is on the list, he acknowledged that if anyone has qualification issues, the process may be delayed by an additional five days.

On 24 March 2026 at the Bhumjaithai Party, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, as head of the party, said regarding today's Bhumjaithai MPs meeting that he urged all MPs to fully focus on parliamentary work. Tomorrow, Bhumjaithai MPs will submit a motion concerning energy. He himself has no issues to clarify in parliament but the government is ready to listen to suggestions and criticisms from all members. Any improvements made in a positive direction will be considered.

When asked if there are any urgent laws to be proposed, Anutin said there are several bills pending from the previous parliament that need to be dusted off and improved before being reintroduced.

Regarding the timeline for forming the cabinet, Anutin said the list of individuals proposed as ministers has been sent for qualification checks to determine compliance with the constitution or any disqualifying traits. According to the Cabinet Secretary, the list was sent to 18 independent agencies, which set their own response deadlines. Once completed, the results will return to the Cabinet Secretary, then forwarded to the Office of the Council of State, and the process is expected to take about one week.

When asked if all 35 new ministers’ names have been submitted, Anutin said simply that he has submitted the list. Concerning rumors that Mr. Pakorn Nilprapan, Secretary-General of the Council of State, is nominated as Deputy Prime Minister, Anutin immediately asked who had seen that. When reporters said it was a rumor, the Prime Minister added that normally ministerial appointments should not be disclosed before royal endorsement, so he cannot comment on such questions.

Asked what will happen if someone has qualification problems, the Prime Minister said other names can be submitted. If there is a real issue, the process may be extended, as the Cabinet Secretary has indicated it could take an additional five days.

When reporters asked if backup names were also submitted, Anutin said that the Bhumjaithai Party manages its own list and does not interfere with other parties’ processes.

Regarding Ms. Sudawan Wangsupakitkosol, who has a pending case at the DSI, Anutin said this is a process that cannot yet be disclosed. When asked if a safeguard is needed in case charges are filed, the Prime Minister said the Secretary of the Council of State must provide an opinion, as per established procedures, on the qualifications of each ministerial candidate, especially those with concerns, which will be carefully reviewed.

Asked if the government policy statement to parliament has been drafted, Anutin said coalition parties have been invited to discuss their ministries’ policies, particularly those promised in their platforms if in government. He has given all parties the opportunity to present at joint meetings, including addressing issues in the Middle East.
