Yotsanan Advocates for Comprehensive Energy System Restructuring, Confirms Submission of Pheu Thai Ministerial Candidates for Qualification Checks

Yotsanan believes the entire energy system should be restructured following the oil crisis. He points out that every ministry must work together integrally to achieve the greatest benefit. He reveals that Pheu Thai has sent the names of its prospective ministers for full qualification checks.

At 08:55 on 25 Mar 2026 GMT+7 at the parliament, Yotsanan Wongsawat, a party-list MP from Pheu Thai, spoke about his first parliamentary meeting. He said today's session will discuss energy matters. Pheu Thai will propose a motion to prepare for energy management, which the party has been discussing and working on for some time. So today marks the formal discussion in parliament.

When asked if Pheu Thai will propose any additional urgent measures, Yotsanan said the parliamentary mechanisms must work in various ways. On the local level, they are trying to gather information on who can do what, managing activities within their respective areas simultaneously.

Regarding whether the prospective Pheu Thai ministers overseeing related ministries need to prepare for anything, Yotsanan acknowledged that handling the energy crisis is not the responsibility of any single ministry alone. All ministries must collaborate since each has short-, medium-, and long-term roles that must function together. Currently, the atmosphere among coalition parties is one of continuous discussion.

On whether Thailand needs to restructure its energy system, Yotsanan said, “It should.” The entire system should be restructured, not just the energy sector, because this situation involves many issues. If there is to be a long-term solution, structural adjustments across the system are needed, starting by addressing urgent problems and spreading out to other matters. The energy crisis relates to basic necessities, but the budget is limited. Therefore, budget management during crises must be integrated to maximize benefits.

Asked if the coalition is worried that the energy crisis might destabilize the new government, Yotsanan said that if they volunteer to take on any issue, they must manage it as best as possible.

When asked if Pheu Thai has completed submitting all prospective cabinet members' names for qualification checks, Yotsanan confirmed that all have been submitted for review.
