Army Commander Discusses Energy Crisis with Internal Security Operations Command, Vows Strict Action Against Rogue Soldiers

The Army Commander chaired a meeting of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) to monitor global developments that have impacted Thailand's economic stability, and vowed to take decisive action against soldiers who violate regulations.

On 25 March 2026, General Pana Klaewplatthuk, Commander of the Royal Thai Army and Deputy Director of Internal Security Operations, presided over a meeting of ISOC headquarters units to review overall security situations. Senior officials and representatives from units nationwide participated via video teleconference (VTC). The meeting reported concerning international developments, especially escalating conflicts in the Middle East leading to a major energy crisis significantly affecting Thailand's economic stability. Meanwhile, the border situation with Cambodia remains under the highest surveillance level to safeguard sovereignty and maintain order.

Regarding efforts against emerging threats, ISOC reported a major drug crackdown with 116 cases, 126 suspects arrested, and seizures of over 77 million methamphetamine tablets and more than 5,400 kilograms of crystal meth. Additionally, operations targeted scammer gangs and call centers causing over 1.4 billion baht in damage to the public, resulting in the closure of more than 150,000 mule accounts. The southern insurgency continues with 44 violent incidents recorded, and local units were urged to remain vigilant, especially protecting vulnerable targets.

General Pana emphasized transparency by ordering all units to fully prepare for audits by the Office of the Auditor General. He also urged the promotion of the “Promchuay” application as a channel for active-duty soldiers and their families to report grievances and injustices. He firmly declared, “The Royal Thai Army will not conceal or protect anyone who violates discipline or policies under any circumstances,” aiming to enhance the army's image as a genuine pillar of support for the people.
