The Prime Minister sped off in a brand-new electric vehicle, demonstrating he drove himself to the doctor without any escort. He assured that insurance has been purchased, so there is no need to worry, and encouraged the public to switch to electric cars.
On 25 March at the Government House, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul caused a stir by driving a new BYD Sealion 7 electric vehicle, license plate ฎ 9798 Bangkok, out of the Thai Koo Fah Building by himself without any escort. He said he was going to see a doctor due to muscle pain.
The Prime Minister said he had reserved this car nearly a month ago because he liked the color. Although he was still unfamiliar with the controls and buttons and had to learn to drive it gradually, he took the opportunity to invite the public to switch to electric cars to help save on energy costs and reduce air pollution, aligning with the government’s policy to promote clean energy vehicles.
The atmosphere was cheerful. Reporters noticed the car still smelled new and initially had a warning signal for an unlatched door. After some teasing and well wishes for safe driving, Prime Minister Anutin rolled down the window and cheerfully replied, “I reserved it several days ago, and the insurance is purchased,” before driving off to attend to his personal business immediately.
