The Ministry of Interior tightens supervision of inspectors, ordering preparations to handle the energy crisis and rising prices, urging savings in line with royal initiatives to combat the war crisis.
On 25 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Atsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, chaired a meeting with ministry inspectors to accelerate work efficiency amid the economic crisis. He emphasized that the war in the Middle East directly affects oil prices and the cost of living, instructing all agencies to carry out their "relieve suffering, promote happiness" mission to the fullest.
The Permanent Secretary added that a key urgent measure is price control. The Department of Provincial Administration, together with local authorities, must strictly monitor consumer goods prices and inspect gas stations to prevent exploitation of citizens. Food security will be enhanced by having the Community Development Department expand the "This House Has Love, Grow Your Own Vegetables" project, promoting vegetable gardening and raising laying hens starting from the governor’s residence to communities, aiming to reduce expenses during the crisis.
Furthermore, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation is tasked with monitoring drought, PM 2.5 dust pollution, and enforcing strict "Don't Drink and Drive" rules during Songkran. Budget disbursement for 2026 must be expedited, with inspectors urged to track spending to meet targets that stimulate provincial and regional economies.
Mr. Atsit concluded by emphasizing "transparency and organizational image," instructing inspectors to immediately report local deficiencies for rapid correction, with the goal of maximizing the Ministry of Interior’s benefits to people nationwide.
