Pawut Points Out Thai Bureaucracy Is Outdated, Proposes Digital Ministry to Lead Technology Use for Data Sharing

Pawut of the People's Party criticized the government, saying it should use technology to manage public trust. He recommended the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society take charge of connecting the 'Government Way' app so villagers can know which gas stations still have fuel.

At 8:30 p.m. on 25 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Pawut Pongwitthayaphanu, party-list MP from the People's Party, stated that Thailand is now in the Thailand 4.0 era. We can track the delivery of our food orders but still don't know how much fuel is left near our homes. The government said it would launch the 'Travel Now' app, but there is no release date yet. He identified three major problems: citizens lack information, there is a blind supply chain, and a crisis of public trust in the government.

Pawut said everyone today wants to see data from upstream to downstream. The 'Government Way' app should be used effectively, avoiding creating or developing new apps. Public sector data should be managed to handle fuel stock in real-time by having the Energy Business Department enforce regulations requiring private firms to report real-time fuel stock. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society must lead the establishment of a cloud system linked to the app. 'Government Way' so that the public can be informed. Third, the Excise Department can use the data to monitor hoarding, and fourth, the Department of Internal Trade can analyze the data to ensure fair price control.

The dashboard will have two versions: one for the government to see the entire fuel flow from source to end, and another for the public to see which gas stations have fuel available. "I see that currently we are not fighting an oil crisis, but rather battling the outdated Thai bureaucracy that still operates in the old ways." Pawut stated that while technology has advanced, the bureaucracy has not moved accordingly. Therefore, he proposed the government use technology to build public trust.
